UPCC Safety Liaison/Chairperson
We are currently looking for a UPCC Safety Liaison/Chairperson. This person would be asked to attend the monthly neighborhood safety meetings at District 3 Police Station and report back to the board. We also have hopes of this person as being the "go to" for the saftey concerns of the neighborhood. Safety is very important to all residents of our neighborhood and we hope to find someone willing to fill this position soon. If you are interested or just curious, please email president@upcc.us.
UPCC Events Chairperson or Serve on Event Committee
We are currently looking for both event committee members and an UPCC Events Chairperson to spear head the organizaion of our two annual events, the July 4th Parade and the December Sing and Sleigh. If you are interested or just curious, please email vp@upcc.us.
Organize a UPCC Fund Raising Event
If the past, residents have:
- Hosted dinners
- Organized progressive dinners
- Organized a neighborhood mulch day
- Any idea you have!
Sponsor/Serve Refreshments at a General Meeting
We are looking for refreshment sponsors at the three General Meetings. This can be a family, business or organization that will be recognized at the meeting and other UPCC communications.
Maintain the UPCC.US website
Update and keep our upcc.us website fresh.
Eradicate Graffiti Liaison
- Be the keeper of graffiti supplies in the neighborhood
- Eradicate graffiti when you see it
- Possibly, organize a neighborhood “Wipe Out Graffiti” day
Help with Neighborhood Garage Sale
In 2011 we had a neighborhood garage sale and we could use help on this event in 2012. Click for more details.
Organize a "Band in the Park"
In September 2011 the neighborhood celebrated its 125th anniversary with a celebration and band. People loved the band and want more. We are looking for someone to organize some fun events for the neighborhood in the summer.
Help with UPCC Annual Independence Day Parade
Every July 4th at 10 am in Observatory Park you will find all the neighborhood kids in a bike parade. All kids are welcome, and the VFW Band is on hand to make the day all the more festive. Following the Parade, Denver Fire Station 24 brings over a pumper truck to help beat the heat and hose down the crowd. The following are ways you can help make the event happen:
- Organization of event prior (purchasing items, getting permits, etc.)
- Pick up and drop off of cones for the event (need truck)
- Set up and take down of cones for parade route
- Set up and serving of refreshments on July 4th
- Help get Thank You gift to Fire Station
Help with UPCC Holiday Sing and Sleigh
On a Sunday in the late afternoon in early December, Observatory Park transforms into a winter wonderland. The UPCC provides horse-drawn hay rides for all residents, Chamberlin Observatory is open for night viewing of skies, there is live holiday music for all to enjoy (from Swallow Hill), and hot drinks and cookies are provided by the UPCC, the University Park Mothers Club and local residents.
- Organization of event prior (purchasing items, confirming all participants, etc.)
- Set up and serving of refreshments and cookies on day of event
- Monitoring of horse line and star gazing line day of event
- Help get Thank You gift to Santa
